2011 Criteria
 
  • Contact Information and Resume: Please include the nominees current contact information, place of employment, his/her title and a brief description of his/her roles and responsibilities within that organization.  If not a self nomination, please include the contact information of the nominator. Self nominations are accepted. Nominations only accepted for individuals, not organizations. Please include the nominee’s current resume that is no longer than 3 pages.
 
  • Leadership: The nominee to demonstrate significant environmental leadership at location(s) such as TREC, Presque Isle, the Erie Bay, and on the PA Lake Erie shoreline. Please include specific examples of leadership, problem(s) being addressed, solutions and outcomes, evidence of the impact of the nominees work, implementation and use of nominee’s work, and the overall lasting impact of the individuals work.  Please include other key points you wish the judges to consider.
 
  • Letters of Reference: Please submit no more than 3 letters of reference from individuals who have worked with the nominee and can attest to the leadership of the individual on the environmental issue and the overall impact of the individuals work. Letters of reference should not exceed more than 2 pages per letter and at least 1 of the letters must be from an individual not an employee or contractor to the nominee’s organization.
 
  • Honorarium:  The recipient is to receive a $1,000 honorarium to support his/her scope of work or an organization’s mission. Funds are to be provided to the organization of the award recipient’s choosing. Funds are to be spent within 1 year of receipt and highlights of the use of funds to be provided to the Friends of TREC for publication purposes. 
 
  • Communications: Nominee must be able to attend the June 16, 2011 Sunset Celebration to receive the award and provide brief acceptance remarks. Award recipient to receive a total of 8 complementary tickets to the Sunset Celebration.

     
    Nominee must be able to participate in marketing and media opportunities prior to the Sunset Celebration, at and after the Sunset Celebration. Nominee will be receiving public recognition of his/her work and this award via various communication approaches (TV, radio, print, eNewsletter, social networking & website). 

 
  • Selection: Award recipient to be selected in May 2011 by the Friends of TREC Board and then notified shortly there after. 
 
  • Submissions Deadline & Format: All submissions must be received by May 9, 2011 via email.  For submission or any follow-up questions please contact Mike Gildea, Executive Director at mgildea@friendsoftrec.org or 814-450-0647. There is a maximum of 5 pages, excluding the attached resume of the nominee (no longer than a total of 3 pages) and letters of reference (no longer than a total of 6 pages). Overall for all documents, please no smaller than 10 font, Times New Roman, one-sided, 8 ½ x 11” pages and single spaced with 1 inch margins.
