About The Friends of TREC
The mission of the Friends of The Tom Ridge Environmental Center (TREC) at Presque Isle is to forge a partnership between the private sector and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources at Presque Isle State Park in order to enhance educational programming, natural history research and visitor services opportunities of the highest quality to assure that the Tom Ridge Environmental Center is nationally recognized as a center of excellence now and for generations to come.
The Tom Ridge Environmental Center is an extraordinary education, research and tourism facility that owes its existence to a unique partnership of public and private resources. Although full completed, the Center requires continued collaborative support to ensure its programs, services and exhibits remain relevant to researchers, attractive to nature enthusiasts and stimulating to educators and students.
You can become part of this collaborative effort and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the Center by joining the Friends of the Tom Ridge Center. As a Friend, your gifts are placed in a special endowment fund, and the income generated by prudent investment is used specifically for the improvement of education, research and visitor programs.
The Friends of the Tom Ridge Environmental have provided considerable support to the Center and the thousands of people who visit on an annual basis. This year, the Center celebrated our 1,000,000 visitor to have visited and experienced this unique resource.
