Carrie Duafala, a Masters Degree candidate at Edinboro University, will learn coyote's most intimate secrets: what they eat, where they sleep, and who are the outsiders.  Is there more than one coyote pack at Presque Isle? How many coyotes call Presque Isle home?

This film will take us into the most intimate moments of science: the difficulty and disappointment of a long and hard trapping season, animal handling in the freezing cold and in the dead of night, and the joy of finding coyote pups.  Join us on our journey to understand more about this elusive wild animal.  Through Presque Isle's unique habitats and amazing diversity comes a portrait of survival in all seasons.

Moonfire Film Productions
will produce a 50-minute documentary film about Carrie’s journey to learn more about this elusive animal, and its natural history.  With such a wide scope of research, this film will have many useful applications to science teachers and Environmental Educators.

A film highlighting Presque Isle’s natural resources will benefit the region in numerous ways:
  •   TREC visitor’s expectation levels will be exceeded by this production.
  •   Celebrate the environmental treasures found in Northwest Pennsylvania
  •   Promote stewardship and conservation
  •   Provide educational curricula for use in schools and at TREC
  •   Promote science literacy
  •   Pilot program for future film productions—the first of many

Our audience has spoken! You prefer films with wildlife and a local focus as proven by the success of “Mysteries of the Great Lakes” and our wildlife film festival series: “TREC on the Wild Side.” Make local productions a part of the success of the Big Green Screen.
