The Gardens at TREC are all about cultivating an understanding and stewardship over Northwestern PA’s natural landscape. Presque Isle is home to over 700 species of plants. Over 90 of these plants species are represented in the TREC gardens. These gardens are the “re-wilding” of previous brown fields, with native flora and fauna.
To support the Gardens at TREC, the Friends of TREC are a proud financial supporter for the Garden Volunteer Coordinator position. This project has resulted in thousands of volunteer hours that are critical for the maintenance of the gardens. In addition, over 1,200 volunteers from community service organizations, schools, colleges and universities, and individual volunteers have dedicated their time for this tremendous resource at TREC.
